Shore, Green Sea Urchin
Psammechinus miliaris
This sea urchin can be found in rock-pools & in shallow waters.
It grows to up to 6cm in diameter.
It is an omnivorous feeder, feeding on algae, dead sea creatures & other morsels than can be found in the detritus.
It very often covers itself with sea weed, shells & stones as camouflage.
Feeding on the shell of a mussel.
Covered in weed & other plant material.
They make good aquarium species, rooting amongst the detritus cleaning the sand & eating any left over food.
